Design System & Rebranding

When I joined as the UX designer, Modernize was undergoing a major rebrand to better reflect its growth and evolving product offerings.

Problem

🚩 There was no design system in place, resulting in inconsistent layouts, no grid system, and redundant or improperly sized components. This created friction with the development team.

🚩 Outdated visual identity that didn’t align with the brand’s evolving direction.

🚩 Lack of ADA compliance limiting accessibility for users

My Impact

I built and structured our design system from the ground up. This includes defining the grid system and specs, colors, typography, buttons, and components.

✅ I worked with the developers to define the grid system and sizing specs.

✅ This rebrand led to a 63.3% lift in conversions, generating over $409K in revenue and surpassing our annual target.

Design System & Rebranding

Modernize cost calculators are interactive tools for the consumer that generate over 400K annually.

Problem

🚩 The bathroom cost calculator, previously our top-performing tool was suffering a conversion rate as low as 0.4%.

🚩 We hypothesized that the overly complex experience is driving higher abandonment rates

🚩 The current setup made it difficult to scale calculators efficiently, resulting in increased development time.

My Impact

✅ Led user research by conducting unmoderated testing to validate key hypotheses.

Increased conversion on the bathroom cost calculator by 150%, nearly doubling and showed a 26% revenue increase.

✅ I rolled out the improved experience across our HVAC calculator, resulting in a 32% revenue increase.

I conducted user testing through unmoderated testing. Our participants were asked to go through a flow and I measured the success rate, friction points, and time of completion. Results showed that over 70% of users encountered friction, and the average completion time exceeded 3 minutes.

I designed multiple iterations that balanced insights from user testing with stakeholder requirements. The third iteration was approved and launched.
